Our New Family Transportation

A family of four is no problem in the Asian world. Emma should be driving it in just a few weeks :) When you all come to visit, we can throw your luggage on here as well.
The boat was built right outside our front window in 3 days by our neighbor and his friends. It was amazing to watch. They will use it for fishing at Lake Kerinci.

These were our outfits for our first Kerinci weddings. Mine is a classic batik shirt that was just a little too small for me to wear. I'm not exactly sure what you would call Kristin's. When with the Kerinci, do as the Kerinci do :)

This is the lobby of the hotel we were staying in. Notice the cement wall behind us. It was amazing to go back inside the building and see so much destruction, but the building still standing.

Kids In The Neighborhood

The kids on the couch are in our living room. They are all from the neighborhood. They are here everyday playing. The 3 kids that I am kneeling with are from the hotel we stayed at the first week we were here. I had taken a picture of one of them the first time I was here in March.

More Pictures

Hey ya'll,
Just after our arrival here, we had the opportunity to celebrate independence day with our Indonesian friends. There were dances and celebrations all day. The traditional dress was fun to see.
Also, the big pole is covered in oil. They were about 30 feet tall and had different age groups. At the top are different prizes ranging from new TV's to bikes to little gift bags. It was a crackup watching them.
The other picture is our back yard and the washing machine (Kyle)! Washing by hand isn't all that fun but it makes life a little slower for us. You will want to notice the open trench sewer running behind me. Also, we make sure our clothes are definitely dirty before we wash them :)

Grace & Peace
